The latest victory of The Filthy Casual Trio -  @abeat​, @without-school-or-style, and myself.

Yes. The Filthy Casual Trio - three perpetually tired old farts who can’t make that dive into the Savage deep end, but are more than willing to have a good time splashing around on the surface (with our water wings on, of course.) We don’t meet often due to schedule and time zone issues, but when we do, trio-ing outdated savage content with unsynced, less-than-optimal classes is one of our favorite pastimes. We’re all almost the same age (old enough to have played and adored FF6 when it was new on the SNES, hahaffff) so when adeat suggested it, it sounded like a perfectly logical next step. I think I found my favorite Savage fight.

FF6 is my favorite Final Fantasy and Kefka is my favorite villain.  He’s just so… ideologically pure? When he said he wanted to destroy the world, he meant it, and he succeeded. He never established a reason for being who he was, and he never made any exceptions to his own rules.  Fuck everything and everyone. Not because of a tragic past or dead family member, not because of a desire for vengeance, not because of the perceived cruelty and suffering in the world. Didn’t have a soft spot for puppies or flowers or small children, just… fuck everything and everyone, pure and simple.  True nihilism. Gotta respect that.  There was no empathizing with him, and it made him terrifying.

...Wish I’d gotten some better screens of him descending all godlike, but I think I was too busy losing my shit over it.  That moment in the original game made my stomach fall into my shoes and this version of it was such a faithful adaptation. Even his attacks were the same, but better. Right down to the random disembodied head and the screen-consuming firestorm attack that sounded like some kind of animal scream. But they kept the original laugh. God I love it.
